Jungle Cafe Goa

A Local’s Introduction to Jungle Cafe, Sangolda

If you’re someone who loves discovering unique cafes hidden in lush pockets of Goa, let me introduce you to one of my favorite finds – Jungle Cafe in Sangolda. Tucked away in a quiet lane behind the charming Lar Amorosa heritage homestay, this cafe isn’t just about food – it’s an experience. As a local Goan and someone who’s seen countless cafes come and go, I can confidently say Jungle Cafe stands out for all the right reasons.

What Makes Jungle Cafe Special?

Jungle Cafe isn’t your regular Insta-cafe. It opened in late 2023 with a strong theme – jungle-inspired décor, open-air seating under swaying palms, rustic wood furniture, and an ambiance that instantly slows you down. Built around existing trees, it’s not a space that’s been manufactured – it’s been grown into. You feel the vibe the moment you step in.

Collins Mascarenhas, the Goan entrepreneur behind the place, has combined old-school charm with a modern all-day menu. It’s relaxed, family-friendly, and a spot that’s equally perfect for a solo coffee, romantic dinner, or lazy brunch with friends.

Ambiance: Dining in the Jungle Without Leaving Goa

Rustic Comfort Meets Tropical Vibes

Imagine sipping a cappuccino while surrounded by bamboo décor, chirping birds, and flickering lanterns after sundown. That’s what evenings at Jungle Cafe look like. There’s an indoor section tucked inside a 1930s Goan home, and a magical outdoor area where string lights and nature do all the talking.

Want an even more secluded vibe? There’s a slightly elevated section that gives you a treehouse-like experience.

Easy Access, Plenty of Space

Even though it’s tucked away in Sangolda, getting here is easy and there’s plenty of parking – a blessing for North Goa. The space is large and spread out, making it ideal for families, groups, or even a chill work-from-cafe day (yes, they have Wi-Fi!).

The Food: Local, Global, and Seriously Good

All-Day Breakfasts

Whether you’re a late riser or just love breakfast food, this place has you covered. One of the crowd favorites is the Healthy Breakfast platter – 3-egg white omelet, muesli, and fresh fruit. You’ll also find Goan-style dishes, pancakes with honey, French toast, and even bebinca for that sweet local touch.

Goan & Fusion Dishes

Don’t leave without trying the Chicken Cafreal or the spicy Goan Chorizo Fries. They also mix Goan flavors into tacos and peri-peri pasta. Their seafood dishes – like Fish Curry Rice and calamari – come straight from local markets.

Wood-Fired Pizzas & Pasta

The pizzas are cooked in a proper wood-fired oven, and the Seafood Pizza is a favorite – loaded with clams, prawns, and mussels. Pasta options range from classic pesto penne to spicy Goan sausage spaghetti.

Quick Bites & Mains

From juicy Jungle Burgers to BBQ chicken wings, nachos, and falafel wraps – the bistro-style menu has options for all cravings. Their small plates go great with drinks if you’re just stopping by for a snack.

Drinks: From Sunrise to Sundown

Start with a Lavazza brew or a smoothie in the morning. End your day with a Mango Mojito, a classic Old Fashioned, or a local feni cocktail. Their drinks menu is creative and refreshing – perfect for a tropical evening.

Some evenings, you’ll find local musicians setting the mood with acoustic gigs or retro classics. These events are usually announced on Jungle Cafe’s Instagram, so keep an eye out.

From open-air grills to karaoke and retro evenings, the vibe here is always fresh. Especially during weekends or holiday seasons, they bring in surprises like festive menus or flea markets.

Community Friendly

They’ve hosted yoga mornings, art workshops, and even small private events. From birthday brunches to mehndi ceremonies, Jungle Cafe can be booked for custom celebrations.

Sustainability Matters Here

Without shouting about it, Jungle Cafe walks the talk. They use local produce, eco-friendly packaging, and even built around the trees instead of cutting them. Their décor leans on reclaimed wood, and they support local farmers by featuring seasonal Goan ingredients.
